Damn, not even counting the woman thing at all, I can definitely sense the bitter. Especially the "don't hang out with ... the poor." Plenty of poor people in my experience get along great with people with plenty of people and even admire them, probably more than they should. If you can't handle poor people, it's probably usually you, not the poor people.

For my part, I hang out with multi-millionaires daily and my net worth is a total joke. The kind that's not funny. We get along great.

Yeah see here is the thing about people who make 60K coming out of college...if they arent retarded their income will exponentially increase. Not so much with 99% of poker players.

Also wtf did you start making more than 60k/year playing poker? Last time I checked you couldnt beat $11 sngs? Please own me with screenshots...k thanks bye

So is there anything I should have said to her, or did I do ok just by kind of letting it go?

[/ QUOTE ]

I'd prolly give her a raised eyebrow and a couple moments of stink-eye, but you handled it fine. If she starts hanging around you with any regularity now, she'll eventually realise you're set and if she remembers the conversation she'll feel like an idiot anyway. If she's actually a friend there's no reason to make her feel stupid so just let it go.

i'd be like, "so how much do you make?"
then after she tells you be like "i see" and wait for her to ask you how much you make. then you can tell her and it wont be childish because she asked you.

I agree with Blarg on this one. Most of you sound like assbags. The girl does sorta too, but poker players tend to forget that back in the real world 60K is a lot of money to kids coming out of college. Hell my dad probably doesn't make 60K. Mocking people who aren't enlightened gamblers like yourself is pretty classless.

I learned at a young age that talking about salary is sort of a faux pas. I asked my dad how much he made and he said, "none of your business, and you don't ask those sorts of questions." I know how much a couple of my friends make, but in general, we don't talk about it. It's just not polite and leads to stupid situations like in the OP.

I think the point is that this girl, without really knowing much Sponger's profession, just blurts out that she makes a lot more money than him. Not just more money, but a lot more money. It sounds like a brag. It's certainly terribly presumptuous and at least a little insulting.

It would really get under my skin if someone said that to me, though in my case it would be true.

I wouldnt say anything, but then every time in the future she complained about being tired from working I'd talk about how I took a long nap and didn't even get dressed all day.

Must be nice to be 22 and still think about how cool you must be all the time. Seriously who cares what you make or what anyone else makes. Live your life.
