100/200 at the Borgata
Has anyone here ever played the 100/200 Borgata game? I've heard dealers say the play at that game is terrible and I'm thinking of taking a poke at it this week. Admittedly this is well above what I usually play. Buy in for $4K? More? Less?

Re: 100/200 at the Borgata
That's the game that I usually play in. Although, it's not always the same limit----sometimes it's 100/200...other times it's 75/150. Sometimes there's a 1/2 kill, other times not. And sometimes it's straight O8, and other times it's a half hour of each, O8 & Stud8. It depends who's in the game and who was there to open the game.
With all that said...the game is GREAT. It's not overly aggressive (as you would normally expect to see in the higher games) but there is definitely some aggression. If you don't already play Stud8, I suggest you learn. Players overvalue their hands all the time in O8 (lots of Holdem players that are making the transition) and you're always gonna get paid off. There are definitely some strong players in the game, too, and I'm sure you'll be able to spot them within 30 minutes. Players in the game tend to stay too long, and, you're gonna see a lot more tilting than you might expect. Just stay patient and don't be afraid to make some noise; if they suspect weakness or anyone who might be squeaky tight....you're gonna have a hard time. Just play your game, you'll be fine. I buy in for 5K (which is more than the norm) and if I get there early, I'll always try to start a 75/150 2-way game because that's what I prefer, and, the game gets off just about everyday. Good luck. |

Re: 100/200 at the Borgata
I don't play these games, but on some recent weekends I've seen the game go as200-400 with a half kill. Sick, sick, sick. I believe the only requirement to trigger the kill was ANY scoop (no dollar req or showdown necessary). Bring suitcases full of hundos!

Re: 100/200 at the Borgata
Actually, those are two different games (they're usually played side by side of each other), but yes, the 200-400 game (which they sometimes 'kick' to 300-600) is a MUCH bigger, crazier, game...although I have yet to play in it (a little too rich for my blood).
The game Niss and I are talking about plays nowhere near as high, and Niss, I'm not sure what limits you usually play at, but I can almost guarantee that, as soon as you play an orbit or two, you'll fit right in, because, for the most part, it plays pretty much like the mid-limit games ( some aggressiom, you'll know where you're at most of the time etc., etc....it'll just play a little bigger, that's all). Whereas the 200-400/300-600 game is in its own world. It is a sick game. Not to mention, it's played with black chips, which, might make you feel a little bit more intimidated. But whatever, just go for it and beat them up. |

Is the 100/200 played with greens?

Re: 100/200 at the Borgata
100/200 is played with greens and blacks. But, if the game started out as 80/160 and then they kicked it up to 100/200, then the game will be played with yellows ($20 chips...which I hate). And, if it's straight 75/150, then most players will use the greens (with some blacks, of course...but no yellows).
Were you plan on playing in the game in the near future? |
