Stars - $3.4 - AQo - Is this too nitty?
Villian wasn't good, and had his big stack as a result of getting all in in L1 with AJo v AK. In that case he raised 4.5BB PF and called a shove. I was worried about his smaller raise, and that this hand screams reverse implied odds. Was I too tight?

WTF yeah this is bad. I mean if you're folding AQ to a button steal attempt, just go get under your covers and sob cause poker is not for you.

OK, so do I call, and play the hand OOP, or do I raise, knowing that he is happy to get his chips in with a 88+, AJs. I folded because I figured I stood risk losing a lot for the chance of a small gain. It's still early, and don't want to race at this stage

Are you afraid of getting stacked by AK or something? You need to realize that he's raising A9,AT,AJ,KQ,QJ and tons of other hands you are dominating. Pushing is fine, but so is calling and CRAI any time you flop top pair. You are going to stack him a bunch in this spot so don't think of it as a small gain.

Re: Stars - $3.4 - AQo - Is this too nitty?
raising to 400 is bad, you hit like 1/3 of the flops and the pot will be close to your stacksize, giving you not any room to maneuver.
i'd push this one since we have lots of FE and if we get called we're able to see the whole board. i like a call with lets say TT or JJ way more here. anyway, you may exercise pot control/deception, just call and stack his A8o postflop when you both hit. |
