Need alchohol suggestions, brother coming home from Iraq
He has been in Iraq since March 06, was initially scheduled to return at the end of March07, but had his stay extended till July12(followed by 2week debriefing at a US military base). While bad in its own right, ended up being a major beat, as he was going to be the best man in our cousin's wedding July7th and is now unable.
I was looking for alcohol suggestions for the party when he gets back, budget of $650-1000, around 15people that will be drinking Champagne is Dom Perignon worth the price? Nice bottle(s) of scotch as a welcome home gift I'm pretty clueless when it comes to scotch Assorted other liquor for drinks |

Vodka: Stoli is my personal favorite. Sky is ok. Real man DO NOT drink grey goose, sorry
Hennessee is a must imo. If you can get Remy, power to you. Patron is good, and i don't like tequila. Don't get champagne unless there's hoes, and even then they should be drinking hard stuff. Bayleys is good for the girls too, i like to mix it with rum. For rum i suggest Brugal or Barcelo Imperial. did i leave anything out? |

My current favorite Scotches:
Lagavulin 16 Laphroaig 15 Both $60-$80 For champagne and just about anything else, go to Costco. Sometimes they have good deals on Dom. |

[ QUOTE ]
My current favorite Scotches: Lagavulin 16 Laphroaig 15 [/ QUOTE ] Both very good, but don't get them unless you know specifically and clearly that you (or he)likes peaty scotch. Balvenie Doublewood 12yr gets mentioned quite a bit on 2p2, and for good reason, I feel. Be aware, much sweeter than the two above. But also cheaper (~$40). If people who don't know the difference will be drinking, you might as well get a bottle of Dom since it's such a significant event, IMO. If they're not particularly discriminating, might as well go for the Wow! factor and get something they'll recognize. I bow to your brother, btw. Much respect. |

If you want something a little different, go with some Cachaça. A couple of them will have everyone at the party on their ass.

Johnnie Walker Blue Label. About 250 bucks for a bottle but well, well worth it. Something for just you and your brother to share when you get the time.

15 people? How many males?
I suggest a keg of a some micro pale and then some whiskey, preferably Jack Daniels. This is your brother, who just came home from Iraq, a country with no alcohol. He wants to drink beer, tons of it. Trust me, my brother was the same way. |
