I'm under the impression you cannot rotate and run in portrait mode...anyone that has a 30" please chime in and confirm or deny this.

Maybe i was unclear in my previous message.

What could possibly stop you running in portrait mode? Does software like PivotPro have some sort of limitation?

I'd be mightily surprised if there was something in Windows that allowed 2500 (or whatever it is) pixels horizontally but not vertically. Windows XP successfully works on my desktop which is 2400 pixels high (over multiple cards, admittedly) so I don't see what the problem would be.

Your question was understood and answered to the best of my knowledge. I asked for someone with a 30" to reply if they are able to run in portrait mode through windows or some add on program.

Running a 30" monster in portrait mode would be nice in terms of filling up as much of the screen as possible without resizing tables. But I am not sure it is possible because of software issues. Since this thread is to iron out FAQ's I thought it best to get confirmation on the ability to run in portrait or not.

Anyone with a 30" want to put to rest if you can or cannot run it in portrait mode?

You can not rotate the Dell 3007, is not possible.
I'm running it with an Asus Geforce 7600gt, but now I'm convinced I could had gone with an even cheaper card, the 7300gt.
Regards ...

OK, it's not unpossible but it probably requires a mount of some kind to keep it from falling over if you just rest it on its side. There may also be driver problems to rotate the screen correctly. My 204B can swivel on the stand it comes with, my Apple 20" I had to buy Neo-Flex stand for it. OS X has screen rotation standard in the control panel, Windows not so much.

The stuff at the back of the monitor only allows to raise or low the monitor, not rotation allowed.

The 3007 is VESA-compatible for mounting onto alternative stands.

http://www.google.com.au/search?sourceid...+monitor+stands provides a list of viable stands that can be used to rotate the thing.

(incidentally, if anyone is looking for a stand, i've used and found www.skunkworks.com.au very good)
