Phil Gordon mentioned during the Heads-Up Championship that that Phill Helmuth killed Celebrity Poker's ratings, and it was canceled the year that Helmuth took over.
Was Helmuth really that bad as commentator? Or..? |

Was Helmuth really that bad as commentator? [/ QUOTE ] Hellmuth's analysis is generally good, but he just doesn't have a good voice. Phil Gordon has a much better tv voice. |

While the show was amusing to watch at times, it most likely got canned because there are much, much better poker shows to watch on TV.

Watching them trying to be cute and funny while playing like [censored] was nauseating.

Was Helmuth really that bad as commentator? [/ QUOTE ] Actually, many BRAVO viewers seemed to really love his nasally informative play-by-play and insight into the playing styles of d-list actors who just finished reading P.G.'s LGB. His combover also looked really stylish. Not sure why the show would have been cancelled... |

They ran out of celebs who even knew the rules [/ QUOTE ] Umm you never watched the show did you? I'd say about 2/3rd of the celebs had no clue how to play poker and only knew what one of the Phil's had taught them the night before. |

Was Helmuth really that bad as commentator? Or..? [/ QUOTE ] For those looking for Phil's analysis on why Celebrity Poker was canceled, you can go to the NBC Sports website and watch. If that link changes, it's Episode 5, Segment 1, at around 4:30. |
