Re: *** GS Warriors 2006-07 Thread
Bobbo,
Wtf are you going to do if Utah faces GS? PITTM, Like I was saying I wasn't denying that you are a fan, I just found it weird that all of the sudden last night you pop up is all. You shouldn't be ashamed of the crappy times btw, take Green Kool Aid for example, he harnesses the crap that is the Celtics and we enjoy his thoughts on them, hell I wouldn't know anything about that team if it weren't for him. |

Re: *** GS Warriors 2006-07 Thread
For the record, I've been a lifelong GSW fan
I grew up in the bay area, went to Warrior games in the 80's and 90's,& rarely missed a game on TV or radio during my childhood. I remember watching Sleepy Floyd go off on the Lakers in the playoffs in 1987. He scored 29 points in one quarter a playoff record to this day I believe. The Warriors won that game but lost the series, and the Lakers went on to win the Championship that year. I remember a girl asked me to a dance when I was in the 7th grade, and I said I couldn't go because the Warriors game was on TV. I moved to Sacramento to go to college in the 90's and maintained my loyalty to Warriors. I've been teased by Kings fans for 10 years for being a Warriors fan. I don't care for the Kings, they were extremely entertaining to watch a few years back, but I despise Weber after the whole Nellie/Weber fiasco back in 1994. Plus I hated his arrogant cocky attitude with Michigan with the whole FAB FIVE thing. Anyway, no bandwagoning on my part. |

Wow I remember Sleepy Floyd, thats a blast from the past! [/ QUOTE ] Ya, I'm an old timer, in my 30's now. I watched the Warriors in the 80's when they had old Purvis short with his massive rainbow jumpers, and their underachieving center named Joe Barry Carrol. He was called Joe Barely Cares, because he had no passion & underachieved. But ya, Sleepy Floyd averaged 12 points in his career and managed to score 39 points in one half against the Lakers who had Kareem, Magic, & Worthy. I just looked it up, and it's still a record to this day. Playoff points in a quarter, and a half. 29/39. |

Re: *** GS Warriors 2006-07 Thread
Sir Arthur,
My mom is from Houston and was a big Rockets/Oilers (Luv Ya Blue!) fan...so I remember him mostly as a Rocket. I was also like 9 or something when he was w/ GS and most of the GS stuff that I ever remember of him was old highlight tapes that I had and they were mainly highlights of Mullin or Higgins but the name "Sleepy" sticks with a youngin'. |

Re: *** GS Warriors 2006-07 Thread
He was traded to Houston from the warriors for Ralph Sampson in late 1987.
I just looked up his career, I totally forget he played for the Spurs & the Nets and retired in 1995. Didn't realize his career lasted that long. But yes, he played like 5 seasons with the Warriors & 5 with the Rockets. How can anyone forget "Sleepy", an odd name for an athlete, but he did have funky looking eyes. |
