Re: Sahara vs Circus Circus
Bav is correct. 2/4 is the only LHE that is consistently spread. 1/3NL has a $500 max is a pretty good game.
The tournament has a LOT of regulars, but I wouldn't call them rocks. Even the few that are are very prediticable and you will know how the regs play after a half hour at the most. |

[ QUOTE ] I dunno about the poker rates, but Sahara wins out for a few good reasons: 1.) Kids. CC has em, Sahara doesn't. . . 3.) Poker is better at Sahara in terms of quantity of game offerings. CC's poker room sucks. [/ QUOTE ] By better do you mean better players or better atmosphere? Are the kids good players? [/ QUOTE ] Kids as in teensy tiny human beings that are not allowed to legally gamble in a casino yet are allowed to do all sorts of annoying things like run around screaming and hollering and peeing in the pool and stuff. [ QUOTE ] 4.) Monorail station. Its still too far to walk from CC to anywhere really, so the availibility of the monorail station is a bonus. [/ QUOTE ] I was planning on using my savings to rent a car. [/ QUOTE ] In that case, look more into staying at Orleans which is MUCH nicer and only a few minutes drive from great low roller rooms at MGM and Excalibur. Also check into Golden Nuggets room special(listed on their website) as it is like $59-69 a night on weekdays($99 weekends) and their new pool area just rocks. Unless you are getting Sahara for like $39 weekdays/under $79 weekends, you really should look around a bit more for a better place to stay. |

Re: Sahara vs Circus Circus
I agree with most everyone else here that the CC is an armpit, but one thing needs to be said. It is the softest poker room I have ever come across. One of the toothless wonders insisted he had the winning straight, never mind that he only had 4 cards to the straight. Just like Poker Stars, CC doesn't give credit for 4-card straights either.
So this guy reloaded 3 times at $40 a pop, each time I was pretty sure it was the last $40 to his name. I guess we did find the bottom when he tried to buy in for $12 which included pocket change but the dealer wouldn't let him. Three other players had a clue, but the rest of the seats kept getting filled astonishingly bad players. |

Re: Sahara vs Circus Circus
If this person is asking for poker room rates at CC and Sahara, then he probably can't afford the monorail.
Seriously though, if you're going to rent a car and you want to play on the cheap, just you can probably get a better room downtown than at one of those 2 places. I've never stayed at Orleans so I can't comment, but I've stayed at GN for under $50 on a weeknight. If you really don't mind barebones, I've stayed at the Vegas Club (or whatever it's called now) for like $30/night. Parking down there is easy and plentiful....so are drunken white trash chicks when the FSE shows. |
