Gymkata

For those who haven't seen it, do yourself a favor and rent it. It has to be seen to be believed.

A ton of the movies listed so far are either terrible but not great (Battlefield Earth) or great w/o being terrible (Commando, Road House). OOT is dumb.

God I hate threads like this because of posts like this.

Here's some more good additions:

Raiders of the Lost Ark
The Goonies
Gremlins
Ghostbusters
Beverly Hills Cop
The Fugitive
Speed
Die Hard
Enter the Dragon

Oh wait, sorry I was mistaken. Those are all just good entertaining, well-made popcorn movies like Big Trouble in Little China.

Sheesh.

Swede was right. Best suggestion so far is Gymkata. Bloodsport also acceptable.

Bloodsport seems to me like it could fit in pretty well with the movies you listed.

I realize that approximately .002% of humanity will agree with me on this one, but I feel this way about Gladiator. I definitely enjoyed it and would watch again, but something about the whole enterprise feels very off to me upon repeat viewings. And yes, obviously the filmmaking is skilled and well-executed, which I'm sure is not the case in Gymkata. There is still some sense in which Gladiator seems to me to be a bad movie, but I enjoy it anyway.

Before you get trashed by the legions of Gladiator fans here put me in the .002%. It is a good movie that I liked better the first time when it was called Braveheart. No way is it close to best picture material. Anyhow, doesn't really fit the Great/terrible criteria.

mmm, I have an urge to argue that some of those in your list aren't that great, but your point is A++ and should have popped up in this thread a long time ago
