Re: eBay account hacked, Stars is helpful
I don't know were you get that WinRAR files are not suspect!
If you go to app sites or p2p sites then you can count on most of them having a nasty in the files. And like cardcounter0, I find it hard to believe that you know that you have been hacked, and yet when your AV picks up something you don't believe it! |

This is the WinRAR installation file, not a .RAR file or its contents.

This is the WinRAR installation file, not a .RAR file or its contents. [/ QUOTE ] Just to be safe, I think I'd uninstall WinRAR. Delete all of your WinRAR installation files. Go to www.rarlab.com (official site) and download the latest version and reinstall. Its always good to have the latest versions of software anyways. Try running your scan again and see if it comes up as a "password eavesdrop". While I believe you that its most likely a false positive, something seems odd. WinRAR is downloaded via a ton of "official sites" and could've easily been a phishing site depending on how you came across it. Its better to be safe then sorry especially for something that will only take 5 minutes. |

Re: eBay account hacked, Stars is helpful
Update: I changed my password for ebay and email at a different computer and never logged in with them on this computer. Also, my email is definitely not being forwarded anywhere. Also, no 3rd party things were attached to my account with authorization to update my password whenever changed.
Despite these things, MORE auctions were posted on my name. There have been some hacking incidents recently on eBay where someone has been able to post as an eBay rep in forums and posted 15 users' SS numbers, CC numbers, bank account info, and names. They were contacted and the information was shown to be valid. http://firemeg.blogspot.com/2007/03/...ng-part-2.html It seems like possibly I was a victim of some eBay hack? The article also said they preferred accounts with high feedback that are relatively inactive which matches mine exactly. |

Re: eBay account hacked, Stars is helpful
I recently had my ebay account hacked. It was after I made a purchase for my wife. I have no idea how they cracked my email. Ebay has still not changed my password, so I am still unable to check out my ebay account. I also have 100% feed back and really only used my ebay account recently to buy some stuff. I am a little concerned about my computer but I had a computer buddy of mine check it out my system is clean.
