Playing 10/20 LHE w/ half kill. My local room does not allow anybody to straddle during a kill hand (side question is this a standard rule?). Game is playing great with 3-5 straddles per orbit and lots of action. UTG throws out $20, dealer announces "live straddle" and begins to deal the cards. As the dealer's dealing the second down cards, a player in MP says "kill pot" and posts his $15 as he's won the last 2 hands. Dealer's unsure what to do since he's already announced the straddle and had forgotten this should be a kill pot.
A few players begin to discuss what should happen. Being a nit I tell the dealer he should probably call the floor. Which should stand the kill pot or the straddle? |

Posting the kill is not an option, it is mandatory. It is a pretty standard rule that you cannot straddle on a kill pot. I don't know a good reason why you can't straddle the kill, but I have never seen it allowed. |

Kill pot should stand, straddle is not allowed on kill pot
I have found this to be universal and used to play a lot of limit omaha h/l where kills were common and a player was never allowed to straddle a kill I agree that I cant figure out why this wouldnt be allowed. It would just create a weird situation if there was a $20 straddle in this game then everyone called the $20 then would the straddler be able to go up to $30 or $35, its just a weird $5 1/3 raise straddle and I cant figure out how to deal with it in relation to the new kill structure on the hand |

Straddle is allowed in a kill pot at the Capitol Casino in Sacramento, but the kill is not required to post and is free to fold pre-flop for free.
Strangest way I have ever seen kills and stradles handled. |

I tried to keep this example easier as my example above with the half kill is more confusing to deal with and slightly more interesting |

Dealer should have called the floor, kill will stand and the straddle will be pulled back. If the second card is already being dealt then floor may call a misdeal due to significant action.
Where I deal you can straddle after a kill. Our games are mostly low limit so it doesn't happen much but our 3/6 games sometimes see that $12 come out as a straddled kill. Dan's 2 cents |

Floor ruled it a straddle, and the killer would have to wait 1 hand to post his kill. The fact that everybody in this thread disagreed with the ruling speaks to how good the floor is.
