Legal to host a game in Cancun, Mexico?
I am going to Cancun for two weeks and was thinking about trying to put a game together in my condo with a few of the guests I know from the building. Does anyone know the rules and regs for playing a private game in Mexico? I'd hate to have a run in with the Federales and wind up in some Mexican prison! Probably not enough cash in the game to pay them off if we get busted...

Re: Legal to host a game in Cancun, Mexico?
You have nothing to worry about. It only becomes a problem if you start operating a casino in the real sense of the word. By real sense of the word I mean that you would have to be running it as a business in a way that it would constantly be open and that you would profit from it by rake or entrance fee or something. But for the purposes of getting a group of friends together to play poker, there is absolutely no problem whatsoever. It has become more common to play home games in Mexico and the law is not worried about this at all. So have fun playing poker in Mexico and don't worry. You are as safe playing poker with your friends the way you describe it, as you would be playing trivial pursuit, or UNO, or checkers, etc. Colima420 |
