So Forbes mag thought it'd be cool to rank the top 98 GMs in all professional American sports.
article here's the top 10: 1 Kevin McHale NBA Minnesota Timberwolves 2 Jay Feaster NHL Tampa Bay Lightning 3 Billy King NBA Philadelphia 76ers 4 A.J. Smith NFL San Diego Chargers 5 Lou Lamoriello NHL New Jersey Devils 6 Don Waddell NHL Atlanta Thrashers 7 Marty Hurney NFL Carolina Panthers 8 Jerry Angelo NFL Chicago Bears 9 Bill Polian NFL Indianapolis Colts 10 John Paxson NBA Chicago Bulls the rest of the list: hilarity ensues note that even by this batshit crazy formula Matt Millen is still a huge dumfuck Perhaps someone here can make a good list. |

kevin mchale, lol.
The #1 criteria must have been "most draft picks lost through under the table contracts to avoid the salary cap" |

Paxson, Smith, and Polian seem OK. I don't know enough about hockey to comment there. McHale and King 1 and 3???

They might as well have sorted them alphabetically or something. That list makes absolutely no sense. I'm at awe in the fact that Forbes let them publish that.

ok looking at the methodology of these rankings, it's not surprising at all that mchale is ranked #1. it's based on how successful the team has been in relation to their predecessor. Since McHale took over a god-awful expansion team, he ranks very high. Notice that the highest ranked MLB GM is #26. This is because the winning % difference between good and bad teams is much smaller in baseball than in other sports.
oh yeah, using this method for determining GM quality is incredibly retarded, obv. |

The fact that Billy King is #3 is more ridiculous than McHale at #1.
