Re: Let\'s make a tournament deal--after I bust!
This happened to me about a year ago. I was playing one of those re-buy tourneys down in Tunica and got to the final table, top 9 pay out. I am pretty short at this point. Well one guys busts in 10th place so I am happy I have made the money because it was a crazy tourney and I was one of the shorties. Anyway, 9th place bust out and the 2 chip leader proceed to make a deal with all of us. I agree to take 1200 dollars instead of the petty 200 or so I would have gotten for 8th place if I busted. That is the only time/way I would except a deal...

Re: Let\'s make a tournament deal--after I bust!
chip-leader can actually bargain to get a little MORE than 1st place money because the other players are so afraid of busting.
" Did they put out a warrant for 4th place's arrest?" madtiger - the 3 smaller stacks were all pretty much even in chips. all 3 benefitted equally pretty much. 1st place was the one who should have been arrested....for total stupidity. |

Re: Let\'s make a tournament deal--after I bust!
Has anyone written a guide on deal-making in like 30-60 person tournaments that pay out a portion of the final table?
Do people just keep suggesting inane +EV splits for them until they can get a couple other people to jump on the idea and try to get everyone else to agree? |

Re: Let\'s make a tournament deal--after I bust!
It's like panhandling. It's sickening.
Guy makes it to the final table with one chip, and immediately goes to work with the "Let's chop!" pitch. Then he gets mad when he's told to STFU, as if he is being deprived of his rightful share of something. |

Re: Let\'s make a tournament deal--after I bust!
Except in situations where the whole table goes, "Yeah. I think you deserve something for making it this far. deserves a fair share for being a nice guy."
It's weird...but people actually do allow deals for players who are one hand away from elimination. |

But I think I had to as nearly every single player was putting half to all their chips in the BB. Blinds were like $10K-20K and I was chip leader with $40k, smallest stack had $20K. Actual chop money received was $2100-$3400(Me). Actual payouts(per hendon mob) had we played would have been: $9,865 $4,995 $2,500 $1,710 $1,185 $925 $660 $525 $395 |

Re: Let\'s make a tournament deal--after I bust!
I was in a small-stakes ($25 or $30) tourney where the casino invited all of the players who had played enough hours over the past month. The casino was adding $1,000(IIRC) to the pool. Only like 12 people showed up, so we decided to chop without playing a hand. I was surprised the casino let us do it.
