Energy/Nutritional Bars
I'm getting sick of eating Power Bars. Please recommend an alternative that you think tastes good. I'm not looking for a supplement/protein bar that a weightlifter might use to help gain muscle mass, I just eat the power bars (and sometimes Tiger Bars) as a slightly better alternative to chocolate bars, starbursts, etc...
Thanks |

Re: Energy/Nutritional Bars
I tried a Larabar the other day and was quite impressed. That said, I'm not sure that I want to drop the $1.50-$2 it would cost per bar to have a box of 16 shipped to me.

[/ QUOTE ] I get 3-4 boxes at a time at a local health food store. I used to pay nearly double for Atkins bars so these feel like a bargain and they are great. Combined w/ a banana and a Starbucks coffee they make a good lunch. |

Re: Energy/Nutritional Bars
For bulking, Cliff Bars suck... not enough protein content. I would recommend Myoplex (deluxe) bars.

GU!!! Technically energy gel, but ~100 calories, easy on the stomach, delicious (chocolate).

Re: Energy/Nutritional Bars
Alton Brown did a Good Eats episode about protein/energy bars and gave a couple good recipes for making your own. If I'm feeling not lazy I might transcribe a few of those on here. As he also pointed out in the episode, you there are a lot of very unhealthy "nutritional" bars out on the market. Many have things like high fructose corn syrup and proteins in forms that your body can't really absorb anyhow.
