Default Everyone on the plane thought I was an A**hole..

So about two weeks ago three of my friends and I were on our way to LA from Toronto..
Ofcourse to save money we decided to fly out of Buffalo instead of Toronto. Our flight left buffalo at 6:30 in the morning, so we left Toronto around midnight, went to the fallsview casino for a couple of hours and then headed down to buffalo. Our flight was a 1 stop flight in Atlanta then Atlanta to LA.. So as we're getting on the plane from Atlanta, the flight is fully booked and three of my friends have seats together and Im suppose to be sitting somewhere else. Im heading to my seat and its next to a mentally handicapped guy. He has drool running down the side of his mouth and I can see my seat is somewhat wet. At this point Im dead tired and just want to fall asleep. Im also the type of guy that get uncomfortable around mentally handicapped people. So I asked the flight attendent if its possible to switch my seat. She gives me a dirty look and says NO. I ask her if there are any empty seats and again she says NO and walks away in the middle of our conversation. So I decide to stand around the plane and see if there are any empty seats.. Ofcourse just my luck, there are no seats left so I walk back towards the front of the plane and I try to convince one of my three friends to switch seats with me and they're too busy laughing away at me. The same flight attendent comes back to me and in a very demanding voice tells me to take my seat. I look over to my seat and he's still drooling away and I decided I rather miss this flight then sit next to him for 4+ hours. By now, Im getting dirty looks from all the passengers on the plane and this lady in a business suit is shaking her head at me.. So I say to her, "if you think Im that big of a jerk, why not switch seats with me" and she just looks away. So the flight attendent tells me I have to leave the plane or take my seat and just as Im leaving the plane, some old guy says he'll switch seats with me.

Cliff notes : Was on a flight from buffalo to LA, didnt want to sit next to a mentally handicapped person, made a big deal of it. The whole plane thought I was an a**hole.

Eh only person who has a right to call you an A hole is the guy who was nice enough to switch seats. I put the blaim on you looking like a jerk on the flight attendent. If she had done her job and helped you out quietly it wouldnt look as bad as you getting in a fight and threatening to get off the plane.

I have worked with handicapped people quite a bit, and I would not want to sit next to a random one on the plane either. I'm also suprised everyone gave you [censored] for this. Are you sure your not neglecting anything? Were you being loud and obnoxious, making fun of the retard by any chance?

The difference between Jerk and Non-Jerk is acceptance of responsibility..

A jerk will ask for what he wants and fully expect that he will get his way. This is because he will not stop until he gets his way. He will not look to himself for a solution and will continue to try to force others to "do for him".

A non-jerk will ask for what he wants. But if it ain't happening, will look to himself as part of the soution.

Jerk: "I am not sitting next to that guy. I am not leaving until someone gives me a different seat!"

Non Jerk: "I am not sitting next to that guy. I can go on the next flight if that makes sense."

LLL

So you were "non-jerk" the second you said you'd take another flight.

I'm surprised this happened. Isn't there some sort of rule against having two retards sitting next to each other on a flight that long?

A mentally handicapped person, with drool coming out of his mouth, was traveling alone? He must have been with someone. I'm sure then there must have been a way to arrange your three seats such that you didn't have to sit next to him. Logically, this story doesn't hold water.
