[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] Once when I was twenty, I won about $1200 which would be like $12000 now, adjusted for inflation. I had a check for $900. I was at the bank at 9 a.m. before payment could be stopped. They gave me a $500 bill and four $100 bills. I practically ran out of the bank. My rent was $25 a month at the time.I had just won four years rent. [/ QUOTE ] I may be incorrect, but I think you went to a wrong kinda bank. Edit: According to Wikipedia, "Although they are still technically legal tender in the United States, high-denomination bills were last printed in 1945 and officially discontinued on July 14, 1969, by the Federal Reserve System. " [/ QUOTE ] That doesn't mean that they are not still in circulation. The Fed just stopped printing them. [/ QUOTE ] my grandmother in law(sounds weird) had a couple last july on are cruise....so im sure as of last year people still used them [/ QUOTE ] I have seen them at a poker game within the last 12 years or so. There were quite a few floating around a poker club I used to work at and people paid a small premium for them. |

Re: Metal Money, Money and Gamblers
[ QUOTE ]
Keep your money tightly in rubber bands. Keep a few dollars outside to spend where you won't be pulling it out in public. When you leave a game, keep the wad of money in your hand. You can throw iit if you are hijacked. [/ QUOTE ] I apologize in advance for being a moron, but can you (or any one else) elaborate on this part? Are you suggesting to keep your main (tightly rubberbanded) money in your hand? Also, how does the throwing part keep you from getting robbed? Thanks, Cartman |

Thanks, Cartman [/ QUOTE ] It's and old road gambler's "insurance policy" Have a roll of bills, all singles in your hand as you leave. Throw it when you get jumped, the attacker will leave you alone to get the $20 or so in bills, and you run off. |
