Pacino has The Godfather Part I. That(and Godfather II, which De Niro was also in) are his only great films. [/ QUOTE ] Scarface, Scent of a woman and Insomnia are not noteworthy? |

De Niro for both. Neither is close. De Niro has Mean Streets, Taxi Driver, Raging Bull and Goodfellas, The Deer Hunter. All of those are great films. He was also in some solid films like Casino, Brazil and Meet the Parents. Pacino has The Godfather Part I. That(and Godfather II, which De Niro was also in) are his only great films. [/ QUOTE ] Dog Day Afternoon, Serpico, GlenGarry Glen ross are all great, IMO. I voted for Pacino, but on second thought, Deniro has just has so many more good movies to be in that it's a clear landslide in his favor. |

[/ QUOTE ] I think Scarface sucks. I've seen Donnie Brasco, Carlito's way, Scent of a Woman, Serpico, Dog Day Afternoon but they're not on the level of the De Niro films I listed--not really close either IMO. I haven't seen the american version of insomnia. |

Re: Pacino vs. DeNiro
De Niro has more good movies than Pacino because he's been in almost twice as many. I picked Pacino for both.

Re: Pacino vs. DeNiro
I've always been more of a DeNiro fan, so DeNiro for both..
Scarface kinda sucked as a movie, never understood why it was so popular.. though it does have a lot of quotables.. Of the movies not mentioned, I really liked the Insider for Pacino |

Re: Pacino vs. DeNiro
I think you guys need to weigh in the number of crap projects they've undertaken. DeNiro in the last ten years has made a huge amount of absolutely worthless movies which he sleepwalked through for the paycheck. Rocky and Bullwinkle, Godsend, Hide and Seek, Analyze That, also Shark's Tale if you include voiceovers. He added absolutely nothing to these movies and played a parody version of himself in half of them.
Pacino on the other hand has consistently picked good movies with interesting roles. His biggest fault is probably that S1mone movie or maybe that one where he recruits Colin Farrel for the CIA. Even in his "bad" movies his presence was for the most part enjoyable as hell. Devil's Advocate anyone? In terms of good movies/lifetime I'd say Pacino wins. The last time DeNiro did any real acting was probably in Wag the Dog. Al Pacino played the world's most badass homophobic/gay/AIDS victim/tycoon in Angels in America while Deniro was voicing a cartoon shark. No contest. |
