Default American company opens Online gaming site

http://biz.yahoo.com/ap/061204/las_v...over.html?.v=1

Las vegas Sands positions itself, if US Gaming Legalized. Also the possible private deals for Harrah's and Station Casino's is good news.

Can America legalise certain online sites but still makes sites outside of the US to be illegal? Seem fair.

While the site will not accept U.S. customers because of laws against cyber-gambling, the company did not say if it would accept bets from other countries either. It is expected to launch in the second quarter of next year.

Analyst Celeste Mellet Brown of Morgan Stanley sees the agreement as a way for Las Vegas Sands to capitalize on any change in the current ban on U.S. Internet gambling.

Sounds like excellent news to me, they don't do this type of thing unless they see a change happening.

This is interesting because the MGM was forced by Nevada Gaming to close its site a few years back.

Sure, this is good news for online players!

If you just figured out our beloved USA is built on a solid foundation of hyprocrisy, welcome to the club, glad you could join us.

I'm impressed poker legislation could be the catalyst to make someone want to leave this country for politicial reasons. I knew most Americians don't care or keep up with politics, until the knock arrives at their door....and yet, I never fail to be amazed at someone "discovering" this country is built on gaft, corruption, deceit, and murder.

How else do think the USA got the top of the golbal food chain?
It wasn't by saying "please" and "thank you"

More power to Sands for making the move. I wish them luck, and I think I'll buy some of that stock.

Think that the Venetian site would bolster the WTO case for Antigua ?

Bet Antigua does not block it.

What does this have to do with a UK site offering games to the UK?

Lot of nonsense in this thread.

Sands is a private company. They are not responsible for Congress and they do not have some special insight into what the Government is going to do next. They are free to start any legal business and that includes opening a U.K. site that caters to countries where online gambling is allowed. If they are banking on future U.S. regulatory changes that is their right and also their risk.

Ventures such as this strengthen the political case for legalization and that is good for all of us. I wish them luck. Given current market conditions they will need it.
