Re: Cake Poker Gold Card issue
[ QUOTE ]
Ah, I see. So if his nut low bluff is caught lots of times, then the next time he bets the other player will know he might be bluffing with another nut low, and will find out after the hand is over, if the guy gets another Gold Card, that he might have been? Right. [/ QUOTE ] I didn't say it was a good example. Kurosh's is better, but I suspect fairly opaque to someone unfamiliar with HU, as Grummin seems to be. This one seemed to have the benefit of somewhat ludicrous simplicity. And no, it really isn't me. The strategy in question baffles me, but he's otherwise a much better holdem player than I am. |

Re: Cake Poker Gold Card issue
Going back to the other topic about gold cards most of the time a player gets them they folded preflop. In very short handed games they give away a little. If a player that gets a GC is in the GC500 race then you can figure out exactly what card they got.
I think what most people are missing is that this is intended to be a fun social room, not a HUD bot paradise. Most often when a player gets a GC someone asks "what did you get?" and they tell you. The games are much more social and much less serious then normal although they are not especially loose. |

Re: Cake Poker Gold Card issue
I've chatted about this with some of the folks on the tables over the weekend. There doesn't seem to be any negative feeling about this, even on the short-handed games.
I'm going to be open to any changes though once the public makes their voices heard. As an example, players recently began complaining that some players were joining tables only when they thought a Gold Card was about to drop, playing a few hands until the card dropped, then leaving the table...only to rejoin again when the next one was coming. After enough players pointed this out, I took action and built in a requirement that ensured that only players who'd been dealt cards on x% of the raked hands would be eligable for a Gold Card. This of course upset the 'gold card snipers', but overall the folks who played the table and helped to unlock each card appreciated the upgrade. Since winning a Gold Card gives not only a card that players can use for cash prizes, but gives miles in the $2,500 weekly Gold Card 500 race, winning a Gold Card means a chance at some decent cash. Jumping from table to table to 'snipe' it from players who'd played all the hands needed to unlock each card was making players angry. I'll be able to suggest any features, providing that the team and the public both see the need for the upgrade. Doug |
