How To Find that \"Niche\" Market (Internet Marketing Related)
Several people have pmed me and I have been helping them in IM. I have no doubt that some of the of the motivated people will start making money. One of the most common questions is how to find that niche in order to create a website.
If you don't already have an idea then you will have to create ideas. How will you do this? By doing a lot of research. You need to find out what people are doing and.. - What they are reading - What they are watching and listening to - What problems they have - What are peoples wants and needs - What they are buying - Where they are buying it - Where they are going - What they are passionate about - Where the hang out - What they don't like How are you going to find out these things? - Forums - goldmine - Magazines - Amazon.com - Targeted Newsgroups - Blogs - Article Directories - Ezine Newsletters - About.com - Social Bookmarking Sites - Google, Yahoo And MSN Answers - Google Adwords - Yahoo (Overture) Search Network - Magazines - Myspace & Friendster - Ebay.com Research for a week and write down ideas. Try to target a specific audience. After a week you should come up with some ideas. Then focus on the one that you think is the best and try to learn as much as you can about that market. I guarantee that after a week of researching a subject you will know more than 95% of the people out there. I have created websites that never made any money. It's all about trial and error. Don't get discouraged. |

Can anyone give any general examples of websites that were a success? And a couple that failed? Just to get an idea.

It might have been that I didn't research enough or maybe didn't put in enough effort. Then again I put in the same effort in a website about a certain breed of dog that did well. |

Should the sites be really specific like your examples? I was just thinking about some general topics like for example an online cookbook community, or a site with information on different acne medicines or w/e. Should the site be very specific, like only recipes using clay pots? Or only a certain type of acne medication?

Good post. The sad part is that no matter how hard they try most people couldn't ever come up with an original idea though. Actually, I guess that's a good thing.

Also, general topics such as your example are surely out there in massive quantities already. It seems the trick is to find an underexploited niche. |

How many sites do you currently run and update?
How much do you average? Trying to decide if this something I want to persue. |

Some of my sites do not generate any money. It's all about trial and error. When a website fails I only lose the money I spent on buying the domain name which is less than $10. Lately I have been making a lot more money in affiliate marketing. You can definitely make some money if you stay focused. |
