Re: K-high against a 2+2\'er
I'm checking the turn. That's a fairly dry board, so I expect 2+2er to check-raise weak made hand, check-fold absolute junk, and WA/WB Ax. As played, I don't mind the river raise, because I think it works 'often enough'.

Re: K-high against a 2+2\'er
I'm always curious about the folding % of people whose wa/wb river donk gets raised. My feeling is that it's not very high.
Meh. Probably worth a shot from time to time. You've got to at least be in the neighbourhood of reasonable odds. |

Re: K-high against a 2+2\'er
If you get away with it, awesome. If he calls and you lose, sucky. J/K
Results aside. Why would he bet/fold the river when he can check/call and see a showdown for the same price? This line makes no sense to me. I just don't think he intends to fold, and if he does fold, then you probably had the best hand, and he was just making a desperate bluff with a busted straight draw. I really don't know what to make of this hand. But I commend you for your effort. |

Re: K-high against a 2+2\'er
If its checked through the turn, he checks the river, you bet, he calls. Is it safe to say he was trying to induce a river bluff with Ax?
If this is the case, river raise works well IMO. |

Why would he bet/fold the river when he can check/call and see a showdown for the same price? [/ QUOTE ] Because he may have a wa/wb hand and doesn't want HERO to check behind on the river and lose a bet. This is a fairly standard line. |

Re: K-high against a 2+2\'er
I still don't get it, wouldn't VILLAN want to induce a bluff if that is the case, instead of getting raised or having hero just fold. I'm interested in hearing more about this line since it is not one that I often consider. Check/call flop, check/call turn, bet/fold river? If you take this line do also do this as a bluff as well, and if so is that why OP would consider raising villan on river will work?

[/ QUOTE ] the cc, cc, bet river line generally wants to be called on the river. Ax wants KK type hands to call b/c they won't bet the river on their own. sometimes the river is a bet/fold, sometimes its bet/call.. OP recognized the line and is figuring its bet/fold enough to make this raise. I dunno if I bet the turn as OP.. the flop call on this board means we're kinda boned UI. |
