ethics of announcing someones outs when all-in?
NLHE tournament, four players left, top three pay.
blinds 1k/2k, average stack 25k lucksack on the button shoves preflop, frat boy in the SB calls lucksack turns over Q [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] T [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] frat boy has K [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] K [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] flop: Q 8 x rainbow turn : 9 without even thinking about it i laugh and say "needs a queen ten or jack, hes got a bunch of outs" river is the jack and frat boy predictably goes nuts, as he is leaving, he semi gets in my face and says "you know calling out cards like that is really not f*cking cool so dont do it again" i'm obviously assuming the beat had him steaming, but is there anything dickish/unethical about what i had done? (it wasnt to try and be a wannabe tv douchebag, it was genuine suprise at the number of outs lucksack had going into the river) |

Unethical? Do people understand the meaning of the word in this Forum?
Rude? Personally, no. Yelling "Come on Queen or Jack!" would be rude. You just pointed out a fact. You think the Delta Omega Nu Kappa member would have said anything if the river were a King? |

This is not a major breach, but pointing out a fact can cause probllmes, especially with so many different languages spoke in casinos etc things like tone and context can really get lost (especially after putting a few beers in there). |

Re: ethics of announcing someones outs when all-in?
it's pretty common to discuss the hand and # of outs once all the chips are in and the cards are up. so it's definitely not unethical.
whether it's rude or not is situational, ie, depending on the table, previous discussions/hands, the general mood of the table, etc. in this particular case it was mostly the runner-runner beat he took, but also combined with the way you laughed when you announced the # of outs the lucksack had. so yeah, i think in this case you were probably being a bit rude. but that said, i wouldn't worry too much about pissing off a frat-boy. he can drown his sorrows by listening to his favorite dave matthews album and playing foosball. |

Re: ethics of announcing someones outs when all-in?
I don't consider it rude, it isn't really needed though, the best hand will have the pot pushed to them. If the pot is being pushed the wrong way, then would be a good time to talk if all cards are up.

I have no problem with this... he was just upset that it hit and wanted a scapegoat (or something).
Don't worry about it, I wouldn't make a practice of it because people being all in are not always in the greatest state of mind. |

Re: ethics of announcing someones outs when all-in?
Unethical? Hell no.
Rude? A little. I'm a confrontational bastard so my response to this: [ QUOTE ] he semi gets in my face and says "you know calling out cards like that is really not f*cking cool so dont do it again" [/ QUOTE ] Might very well have been, "Or what, fratboy? Go f*** yourself!" Then again, I'm the guy who offered to kick an old man's ass last night because he got in my face about how my wife blocked him in and told me he was going to, "Punch my lights out!" so take that with a grain. |
