Reno Pot of Gold fall \'06
Anyone else going to be playing any of these tournaments? I will most likely play a few of the $200 daytime tourneys and a few $100 twilight tourneys. I hear they have satellites running all the time.
Anyone going to be there and want to meet up, pm me? Also, does anyone have any info on the structure (blind time levels, starting chips, starting blinds?) Tournaments are being held at the Grand Sierra Resort (formerly Reno Hilton), and I think they have a $25 room rate for out of town players. Here is the schedule: Date Event Buy-In Thu, Sep 28 at 6:00 PM Event #1 - No Limit Hold'em $100+$25 Notes: Satellite Day begins @8am Fri, Sep 29 at 11:00 AM Event #2 - No Limit Hold'em $200+$25 Fri, Sep 29 at 6:00 PM Event #3 - No Limit Hold'em $100+$25 Sat, Sep 30 at 11:00 AM Event #4 - No Limit Hold'em $200+$25 Sat, Sep 30 at 6:00 PM Event #5 - No Limit Hold'em $100+$25 Sun, Oct 1 at 11:00 AM Event #6 - Omaha Hi/Lo $200+$25 Sun, Oct 1 at 6:00 PM Event #7 - No Limit Hold'em $100+$25 Mon, Oct 2 at 11:00 AM Event #8 - No Limit Hold'em $200+$25 Mon, Oct 2 at 6:00 PM Event #9 - No Limit Hold'em $100+$25 Tue, Oct 3 at 11:00 AM Event #10 - No Limit Hold'em $200+$25 Tue, Oct 3 at 6:00 PM Event #11 - No Limit Hold'em $100+$25 Wed, Oct 4 at 11:00 AM Event #12 - Limit Hold'em $200+$25 Wed, Oct 4 at 6:00 PM Event #13 - Charity - No Limit Hold'em Big Brother/Big Sister Event Rebuy Unlimited @$50, Addon $100+$25 Thu, Oct 5 at 11:00 AM Event #14 - No Limit Hold'em $300+$30 Thu, Oct 5 at 6:00 PM Event #15 - No Limit Hold'em $200+$25 Fri, Oct 6 at 11:00 AM Event #16 - No Limit Hold'em $500+$50 Fri, Oct 6 at 6:00 PM Event #17 - No Limit Hold'em $200+$25 Sat, Oct 7 at 11:00 AM Event #18 - No Limit Hold'em Championship $2,000+$80 Sat, Oct 7 at 6:00 PM Event #19 - No Limit Hold'em $200+$25 Sun, Oct 8 at 11:00 AM Event #20 - No Limit Hold'em $100+$25 |

I always find it funny when these casinos hold these obscure "open" tournaments when in reality, you can find them any day of the week in a bigger poker area.

[/ QUOTE ] That is true, but Reno isn't that big of a poker area. Even the good weekly tournaments in this town have trouble drawing more than 50+ people. Events like this at least bring a bigger draw of people and hopefully weak opponents. From past pot of gold tournaments I would expect the fields to be at least 100+ and more likely 150-200 for each event. *and don't forget the $2000 championship event. I know it isn't $10k but it is a fairly large buy-in with a probable weak field. |

[/ QUOTE ] I understand your points, but honestly, how many 10k events do we need a year? I'm glad, for once, that there isn't a 10k event at the end of this series of tournaments. There are too many as it is now. |

Re: Reno Pot of Gold fall \'06
I agree, $10k events are everywhere it seems. Even the Reno WPT event is only a $5k event, and I hope they don't change that in the following years.

[/ QUOTE ] Well since Harrahs dumped off the Reno Hilton, it's possible it will stay there now since it's not a conflict with the WSOP circuit like it was this and last year. |

Re: Reno Pot of Gold fall \'06
I will be there Mon thru Sun of next week, at least at night. I am not much of a tournament player but will check out the side action.
Young nut, do you play at the Peppermill much? If so what stakes? NL or Limit? |

Re: Reno Pot of Gold fall \'06
I will be there for at least part. Likely to play in the 2K.
By "play" I mean, double up early and then donk off my stack. |
