Giordano's or Geno's East Deep Dish Pizza. Nuff said. My favorite non-sports tourist attraction stuff is the Museum of Science & Industry I can get lost in there for days its so much fun. Chicago [/ QUOTE ] quick hijack: i've had giordano's and it's good. I've also heard very good things about duo's, but haven't had a chance to try it. compare/contrast, please. thanks |

astro,
I've had toasted ravioli more than a few times up the Mississippi in the Quad Cities (IA/IL) and can attest to its awesomeness. But I guess like beer it's an acquired taste and tourists want things their pallettes are accustomed to (like Bud Light, ick). |

Re: Suggest 1 thing to do in these 7 Midwest cities
I graduated some time ago but I doubt Cincinnati eats and drinks have changed much. Somebody mentioned skyline, decent but not the best. The best is Camp Washington Chili. Go get ice cream at Graeters, this is required. Drink some Hudepohl (Hudy Delight) or better yet Christian Moerlein beer.
Not so sure about tourist attractions, been gone for 10 plus years. Union Station is the grand old train station that now has some sort of museum in it. Mount Adams has some good bars and nice views of the city. It sounds kind of morbid but Spring Grove Cemetary is a fantastic place. The Taft Museum. Almost forgot the zoo. Oh, and go to King's News. It's the only place within the city limits that can sell porn. |

In Detroit, you have to get a coney from Lafayette Coney Island. Trust me, you will enjoy it.

Not saying you shouldn't go there, but if the owners happen to be there, tell em to [censored] off for me. |

Re: Suggest 1 thing to do in these 7 Midwest cities
Astro either lives in St. Charles or has stock in Fritz's.
On the toasted ravioli front- True to the Wiki entry, they have bastardized versions in Chicago that are filled with the inbred second-cousin of ricotta. Only in StL have I found the proper veal-filled ones. A must have while there. I suspect the ones in the Quad cities are filled with ricott-el. |

Re: Suggest 1 thing to do in these 7 Midwest cities
i live in clayton. i drive all the way out to valley park or st. peters when i want frozen custard though, even with ted drewe's being way closer.
it's funny you should mention the stock thing though, because my love of the product has me debating whether or not i want to own a franchise an investment. i'll get nschandler's perspective on the owners (there are different ones for different locations) via pm. |
