Default Another hand I THINK I played well...

$24 + 2 tourney last night on Full Tilt...1200+ players down to around 200 so average stack is maybe 9000. Blinds are 200-400. Player in middle position moves in for around 3600-3700. Folded to me in the cutoff. I have AK and decide that he has either a small pair and it's a race or he has ace-rag and I have him dominated. I move in for 10,300 or so. He flips over A,10 and flops a 10 and I lose the pot. I'm happy with my decision to gamble in this spot with what I considered to be a coin flip at worst. The result obviously sucked. Correct play or not???

I'm seriously not complaining about the beat. I'm not the most experienced tourney player. I can usually sneak into the money when I do play, but it always seems that I misplay a few hands (sometimes just 1,lol) and I'm trying to plug the leaks. Thanks for any help you can offer.

This is something you should let go of. Your goal shouldn't be to sneak into money, it should be to reach the final table (or rather top three). I started making final table when i quit worrying about getting into the money. Even on the bubble, and even if your opponent has you covered, you should be all-in with AK here. Doubling up is more important than reaching the money. If you are to concerned about the money, you're playing above your bankroll.

Sneaking into the money is easy. But you don't want to sneak into the money, you wan't to win The money, which you find in top 3.

Not only did you get him in 70/30 you recognised that you had him either flipping or dominated, then acted accordingly, what is the question here? Well played.

I'll borrow an image from the SNG forum to explain what your next step should be:

I guess I'm looking too much at the results of the hand instead of how I played it. I figured I had to make that play in that spot.
