i think that the end is a pretty terrible song.
it's representative of the afflictions that morrison had that very much detracted from the doors. i can appreciate the end as a poetic attempt, but as for ROCK N ROLL it fails miserably. i'd say that light my fire is the best doors song. |

It is my personal belief that if Jim Morrison had not died, he'd now be 260lbs and opening for Wayne Newton in Vegas. Severely over-rated band.
But he, that's just my opinion. |

On a related note, what do you guys think of the movie The Doors with Val Kilmer? I thought watching it while getting high was an awesome experience, but I also love their music...

[ QUOTE ]
What is the best song by the Doors? I personally love Indian Summer and The End. Anyone else? [/ QUOTE ] I find it impossible for me to drill down to a "best" Doors song. There are many that I care for more than others, and some I don't care for at all.....Pretty much like the body of work of any other group. It probably has more to do with personal likes & dislikes than anything else. They are much better judged by their complete body of work, both musically and sociologically within the times that they lived. It might be very difficult for those who did not live through those times to understand the significance of many of their songs, and that would certainly be understandable. To dismiss their influence on the current events of the late 60's/early 70's would be an error. |
