what to do with tiny bluff bets?
i normally play mid-stakes sh limit, but i'm just messing around with some nl.
i run into these bets fairly regularly--they're almost alwyas bluffs (sometimes they'll be a flush). anyway, one of the tougher things for me is figuring out how much to bet. comments on entire hand, as well as river raise, would be much appreciated. thanks, john. Re: what to do with tiny bluff bets?
tiny bluff bets on the river like this, I call them.
Raise them and the tiny bluff bet folds. OR Raise them and the tiny trap bet sets you all in. |

Re: what to do with tiny bluff bets?
i like making a big river raise here as you did when the flush hits.. if he has very little and is trying to see a showdown he probably wont pay you off much.. but if he has a flush or an ace he'll pay off the big bet.. probably more EV than a smaller raise

Re: what to do with tiny bluff bets?
IMO I fold 9As UTG, but when my image is tight I could make moves like this. The raise is good.
I would bet more on the flop say 15ish On the turn again I would bet more, make villain pay if he's on a draw. What a river! I would bet less I think, to get maximum value (IMO people will fold a lot vs a PSB). Bet like 20/30ish EDIT: I think I agree with Given on the river though, damn you posters are fast! |

Raise them and the tiny trap bet sets you all in. [/ QUOTE ] lol i want the flush to set me in on this hand...i have second nuts (second to only straight flush). i can't see not raising with the second nuts here--we're losing way too much value from flushes, smaller boats, and stupid big pairs. naturally, the bluff will fold, but we're only getting the original bet out of the bluff anyway...not raising means we lose tons and tons of value. |

Re: what to do with tiny bluff bets?
Just ignore them and bet what you would have bet, anyway. But here, I'd not bet 65 since I don't think he'll call it. I'd bet smaller, like 38 or 45 or something.

Re: what to do with tiny bluff bets?
if he has a flush he will call more than this, maybe even a push it depends how stupid he is, the stupider he is, the more you should bet. nh

Re: what to do with tiny bluff bets?
to any1 saying to raise less on the river...I hate that idea. What hands are you trying to get value out of?
The amount is OK, but I could hear an arguement for betting more as well. As for the rest of the hand, bet more on the flop/turn. As for those tiny bet bluffs, ive never seen it much on the river, on the flop I see it a lot and I raise them with ATC and i've found: its 1) air and always folds, 2) draw and always calls 3) monster and always 3bets |
