Whatever happened to fast rap?
I noticed that when I was in high school a big part of rap about how fast you were. Everyone made fun of Ma$e because his rhyming was so slow.
I'm not a big hip hop fan but I noticed that "fast" rap has mostly disappeared. Is my observation accurate? What happened? |

Re: Whatever happened to fast rap?
I wondered this the other day too as I heard Bone Thugs N Harmony on the radio. I thought about the Fushniks too. I liked trying to figure out what they were saying.

Re: Whatever happened to fast rap?
Does rap even exist anymore? Probably not if it weren't for underground stuff.

"theres nothing harder than slow rap"
so true. if you rap fast it's easy to hide the fact that you're spitting a bunch of dumb [censored]. if you rhyme slow, you really have to have some content. |

[/ QUOTE ] Yes i'm consistently blown away by the content of the great slow rappers. Me and all of my other white, upper middle class friends find that we can really indentify with the touching stories of struggle and hardship in rap music. |

Re: Whatever happened to fast rap?
lol @ rap not existing anymore...
Basically the commercial popularity of southern hip-hop, which tends to be slower is the culprit right now. Keep in mind that like 1.5 years ago Twista was all over the place and he can rap a pretty blinding speeds. |
