Early, no meaningful reads, other than UTG limps too much.

I would bet the turn and river. As played, I would check/raise the river. UTG isn't folding and BB might reward it with a coldcall.
The way you played it is better if your opponents are decent. |

[/ QUOTE ] I'm not so concerned about someone being on a draw, as I have TP + the gutshot. I actually think that this is a nice line vs the typical monkeys playing 1-2, since as long as I let UTG keep the lead, he'll keep betting TP for me. On the off chance that I'm behind on the turn, this saves me a couple bets, while at the same time, I get the benefit of overcalls from BB. I think I make more from this hand as played than by taking the lead. |

(Thousands of NL SNGs the past couple years.) In my relatively short time though, I've found that once a player takes the lead, they hate to give it up. I don't think that I said that UTG was loose passive, he limped too much, but I didn't have a solid read because it was early. FWIW, UTG had JJ and BB had 67. |

What'll happen a lot of the time though is the turn or river will check through, so it's best to bet there. |

one had JJ, one had 67, and they both would have called you down if you just bet. Good job betting nothing and checking with the nuts

BTW, the thing I hate about betting the turn here is that there are precisely two hands containing an ace (A2 and A3) that I am beating here.
The times that another ace is out there, I'm saving at least one bet. Reverse implied odds and all. And I have a gutshot to boot. But if I play passively, I get many non-ace hands to bet for me. |
