Find a good tailor and have them take a little out of the seat. Generally tailored jeans look terrible, but if you're not talking about major alterations, just taking a little out of the backend on a pair of otherwise fitting jeans is not a big deal.

Sushi, the hype and success of Evisu is not from just that specific pair of jeans. They have tons of clothing including a bunch of different styles of jeans with different pocket graphics. Some of it is well designed. Whether it is worth $300 or whatever they are charging per jean is debatable, but you're stereotyping their entire brand as silly from that one design.

The original Evisu hype was due to the fact that they used old hard wearing read:industrial denim. As opposed to the cheap manufactured denim that had become the norm. I owned a pair then, (1999) paid the about $300 for a pair and they were worth it. Believe me. No denim could have taken the hammering I gave that pair. I can't speak for their current 'fashion' lines but the originals were the bomb.

How incredible can something be if it escapes notice? It's not like jeans are multifaceted objects. You wear them on your legs. They either fit well or not, look good or not, etc.

And if it's a durability issue, what the [censored] are you doing to your pants? I've had $20-$50 pairs of jeans that last years of normal use. Given that $20 gets you jeans that last 2-3 years, $200 jeans would have to last a quarter of a goddamn century to be the better purchase ceteris paribus. I don't think that's really the issue, though.

What I was saying is that you probably won't be able to tell that $200 jeans are worth $200 from just trying them on in the store. After you wash them once or twice and break them in, they start to ride differently and the denim gets softer. Noticeable soon, but not immediately.

I look at a bunch before discovering a rack of 7 (FOR ALL MANKIND!!!!!!) jeans that look pretty good.

'7 for all mankind' jeans are great.

Before I left for college, I never heard of them. I came from a small town and I thought paying 90 dollars for jeans was expensive. Then I moved to school and my roommate's family was real well off. I needed some clothes and him and his girlfriend tagged along and said, try these on. They fit better than any other jean and I have had the same pair for three years and they are still in good condition. No other jean in my lifetime has lasted longer then a year.

Diesel aren't too bad either.

After years of never spending over $50 on a pair of jeans, I bought a pair of Luckys. Super comfortable.

these brands won't fit someone in the op's size range. they are pretty much geared for men with the muscle mass of heroin addicts.
