Son was ticketed for 110 in a 55. $200 fine, Suspension of License for 1 yr. He was 23. I have no idea what the hell they would do to a 16yo. Suspend until 21 would be the outcome in a number of states though with zero tolerance. Mandatory brain transplant would work too.

90 in a 30. She needs to go to court and plead with the DA to lessen the fine. Like 60 in a 30 pay a huge fine and keep your lic. If she just pleads guilty shes gonna get screwed heavy. If there is no deal to keep the lic. Go get a lawyer. A first offence they "should" let her go with a heavy warning. However being 16 they might make an example of her and take her lic. till shes 18.

I know VA has had the 20+=reckless for a while now, Maryland didn't have any automatic reckless rules when I left a few years ago, I need to know if that's changed before I go back. To OP: Your question can't be answered without knowing what state you're in. It's not even possible to make a reasonable guess. If I got pulled over for 90 in a 30 in AL, the punishment would be similar to what I'd get for 40 in a 30 in MD.

[/ QUOTE ] In that case, reckless driving must be specifically charged, there is no X over = reckless. If there's no mention of it, it's just a speeding ticket. Her license can't be revoked. Requirements for revocation are clearly listed in the Code of AL. Even if reckless driving somehow gets attached to the charges, she would need to get 2 more in a period of 12 months before her license is revoked. Requirements for suspending a license are more of a gray area, but it would be a stretch to say what she did is a suspendable offense. My best guess, she keeps driving and pays a fine not to exceed $500. I'm not a lawyer, talking to one would give you a better guess.

[/ QUOTE ] True, anything over 80 (doesn't matter the posted speed limit) is considered atleast wreckless driving. Also going 20+ over the posted speed limit is considered wreckless. Virginia has a lot of really [censored] driving laws.
