*Red Sox thread* News, views, and love for the front office
Paluka asked me if I was going to start a thread for the boys, and since he didn't take me up on my request that HE do it, here it is! Use this thread to discuss news, your views on the recent happenings, and anything else related to the good guys.
Hopefully to change things for last year, please dont attack posters in this thread if you hate the Sox or are just a moron in general. Hopefully Sox fans can behave themselves and not attack the threads for other teams on here. ENJOY! |

Matt Clement
Does this end the debate over whether getting hit in the head ruined him?

Re: *Red Sox thread* News, views, and love for the front office
I'm hoping for the best and expecting the worst this year. Toronto is so much stronger than last year, even the D Rays are better than before, and the Evil ones totally reloaded.
The health of our pitching staff, as it usually is for most teams, is hugely crucial. If Beckett can avoid the whole blister situation and Schilling stays on track, we'll be right there. If not, I dunno... After five days, I really think I'm going to like Coco Crisp a lot. And I also think Wily Mo is going to do some things. |

[/ QUOTE ] I think your assessment of expecting the worst is an acceptable view to have, but after Schillings performance against a stacked offense I would think you would be more optimistic. Granted its only one game, but he is the key to the season I think. Toronto's improvement is vastly overrated and the NYY staff issues are vastly underrated IMO. Sure the Yankees can rake, but what matters is the difference in runs scored vs allowed. There is just too much optimism considering the hurlers after the front two. Also overlooked is the fact that the Red Sox APPEAR to have more depth/mid season flexibility. |

Clement has great stuff but can't seem to be able to put 2 good halves of a season together. |

Re: *Red Sox thread* News, views, and love for the front office
The thing that I'm most impressed with so far this early in the season is the infield defense. Gonzalez is as advertised and started a DP last night from the hole on a play where I was hoping they would at least get one out. He got the throw so fast to 2nd that it was amazing and they turned it.
JT Snow made a play last night that was unreal. He had to dive to his left and while prone, the ball took a bad hop and he adjusted his glove upward to snag it, a totally amazing play. |

LOL@torontos improvements being vastly overated. Im a sox fan, but thats just insane to say that. Adding a top 10 C, a top 25 SP, a top 10 Closer, and a good pop 3B, are all real good additions. The only one i would call overatted is Burnett and it certainly wasnt Vastly overatted.
