My poker tracker is making everything really slow.
My poker tracker is making everything really slow. I've recently used the one step compact thing. I have 40k hands on myself as well as a few thousand observed hands. I run the auto import as well as run pokerace HUD while playing. My computer often freezes up. Is there anything I'm doing wrong or can do to improve the performance of my computer while playing (and don't say "stop downloading so much porn" )? Does my computer just suck or is this normal?
Thanks for any help. |

Re: My poker tracker is making everything really slow.
How old is your computer? You might just need a faster computer or just close all other apps when you play. I get the same problem when I triple table but since I started only doubling, I don't really get that problem.

Re: My poker tracker is making everything really slow.
It was a very nice computer back in '02. So it's not terribly old.

Re: My poker tracker is making everything really slow.
Yeah i feel a slowdown on my comp as well, but thats only in the beginning of the session as it autoimports hands that were not imported the day before. For me its not really table dependant but while it is autoimporting at the beginning, regardless of the number of hands. My comp is fairly decent/good as well (amd athlon 3200ish? with about a 1gig ram)

Re: My poker tracker is making everything really slow.
Whenever you have a PT question, it usually gets answered much better in the PokerTracker forum.

It was a very nice computer back in '02. So it's probably horribly outclassed by now and long overdue for replacement given the speed with which the computer industry brings newer, more powerful products to market, which of course allows software providers to gleefully exploit the greater power, which in turn makes newer applications burdensome to older hardware, which, finally, ensures a steady stream of new purchases of ~$2000 pieces of equipment with a useful life of no more than 3 years or so. Re: My poker tracker is making everything really slow.
RAM is the always the answer given and it usually the wrong answer. This is much more likely a preocessing power issue. PT does not use that much RAM.
Open PT. alt-cntl-del. Right-click on the process and change the priority to LOW. Make sure your import intervals is set to 3 minutes. I've done this with comps probably much slower than yours and it has worked fine. |

Re: My poker tracker is making everything really slow.
I'm going to ask this here since my question is somewhat relevant.
re: Windows Task Manager - Processes It seems like I have a lot more processes going that is necessary. Currently my computer has 51 going which is about 5% CPU usuage. Perhaps this isn't much, I wouldn't know since I'm not a big IT guy. I have processes running under four names. SYSTEM, NETWORK SERVICE, LOCAL SERVICE, and then "my name" I'd say the majority of these processes aren't using more than 2,000 K. Anyway, any help/insight is welcome on how to speed up my computer when four tabling SNGs (other than closing down all but necessary apps). I did notice that PT is only using about 1,300 K right now (althought it is not importing HHs). |
