Re: 9/18 commerce against 2p2er
1. My guess is that your opponent is Zach because he plays this game a lot.
2. Pre-flop is fine. The 2+2er is not going to be raising light out of the blind here. He might be raising a hand like QJs but too often you'll be dominated to reraise here. 3. Raise the flop. You very likely have the best hand. The pot is big. In this game, opponents will likely call with a lot of weak one pair hands and gutshots. Raising allows you to generate value from weaker As, draws, and so forth. If you get three-bet from the BB, I'd call down. You're hoping to see a hand like AJs or another AQ, or to pick off a Q or get some sort of split. It's thin but the pot will be big by that point and those two hands make up enough to merit intending to call down. (NB: once the turn comes a J, in that situation it actually might be correct to fold on the turn). 3. Once you get to the river, you should definitely bet for value. If you get check-raised, feel like a chump and fold... but don't feel like to much of a chump because you'd have put a bet in on that river if he bet and you're not going to be paying off his check-raise... |

villain is lmd if it matters... [/ QUOTE ] Oh he plays good... In fact, maybe good enough that you might need to look up a river check-raise. |

[/ QUOTE ] I don't think he would c/r bluff the river. It's a sick line with AK to get one more bet from Ian, since LMD knows by now that Ian has an A, and if LMD has AK, then he knows he's got the best hand and can induce a value bet from AQ/AJ. Still, I think LMD probably had it in mind that he'd take one more shot at the turn and if called, he'd give up with his KK or whatever. He may pay you off if you bet. I'd bet/fold the river here. |

Yeah,
I haven't played with either of these guys, but calling a river raise seems likely not to be the best plan. I'd puke when folding if raised, though... |

Re: 9/18 commerce against 2p2er
anyways...so i talked with lmd about this hand afterwards and he suggested that checking the river thru might be the best move...im kinda surprised that nobody even suggested it might be something to consider...
joker got it right that my hands is pretty transparent as an A, michael obviously knows this, so if he has can't beat an A then he isn't "just" calling a river bet, in fact, i can't think of any hand where is check/calling the river, he can either bet, c/r, or c/f... results: michael checks, i bet, he c/rs, i think for a bit and call, my hand beats his KK...michael says he should have just c/f the turn, which is probably correct, although he did tell me that there was a flush draw on the flop so my bad... |
