I have been playing 2-4 while waiting for other games and I have begun to wonder, is it even worth it. %10 rake up to $4 and you get limpers w 62s and 93 off calling off chips and winning obv sometimes but not longterm. Is there +EV to playing this type of game?

Depends. Can you average 1.5/hr in it? That's about the only way it's worth it after rake and tips, I think.

Frankly, the rake is such in games lower than 6/12 where I feel it isn't even worth my time. I would never play lower than that seriously, including if I were to go el busto. I wouldn't play again until I could afford 6/12.

The game is probably beatable, but not by much.

I played it a lot when I was bored playing nl online and still fresh to poker, and I averaged a decent to good winrate, but now I am thinking that playing the 2-4 game is not even worth my time, even if I'm waiting for another game.

Like I said, if you take the monies seriously you shouldn't play lower than like 6/12 live.

What about the fact that you can make up for the rake by playing very unskilled opponents?

I find myself wanting to talk [censored] to the players, its not enjoyable for me anymore, even as a time killer. [img]/images/graemlins/mad.gif[/img] I played 3-6 and found it mildly tolerable though.

3-6 is a better game with kill where I play than the 4-8. The only other games ever see are 30-60, as far as limit.

I found it really hard to make $ at either 2/4 or 3/6. In fact I was a small losing player at both. Not a huge sample size yet for any limits, but I made the jump up to 4/8 and also play 8/16 where I am a modest winning player at both. Might seem kind of weird to play at 2/4 and 3/6 and not be winner and then move up to the 4/8 but I finally did so at the urging of several here and it is well worth it. I almost feel that now I don't want to play any lower then 8/16 [img]/images/graemlins/smile.gif[/img]
