I love this line vs nonregular donks. You don't even have to raise that much. I'd make it $23 or something.

Re: Raising for free showdown... (Line check)
I usually just raise the flop here and reevaluate on the turn, checking behind most of the time. (just noticed hes a 60vpip donk, i probably raise flop and bet a lot of turns too in that case)
If he comes out with a $20+ bet on a blank turn your going to have a tough decision, considering you then have the river to face on the back foot as well. Given his lame turn bet i like the raise and check on the river. |

i like a flop raise here too, usually. dont think this is the board to get tricky against a likely donk.

Re: Raising for free showdown... (Line check)
If you are just calling flop I like BGNights raise to $23. I think it gets the job done against a guy like this. As far as flop I usually raise here like 90% of the time with ATC against a donk like this and usually he'll turbomuck.
$27 works for a flop raise. |

Re: Raising for free showdown... (Line check)
Urbanati- Not sure I follow your reasoning throughout this hand. You smooth call the flop for deception? If that is the case (fine on occasion) then why are you now getting into a defensive stance with a turn 'blocking bet'?
This line starts off with underrepping your hand and then you decide to overrep it. You essentially took away his power to bluff you on the river. I would think that if you play the flop in that manner then, then you would want him to be able to think he can bluff a missed heart draw or straight against you. |

Re: Raising for free showdown... (Line check)
I'm just talking about the turn. The flop can be debated.
The beauty of this line is villian doesn't know it's a blocking bet. If he 3bets here then we can smile and fold. If he has a monster or is on a good draw then he may get tricky and check his monster or hit draw on river (w/ intention of c/raise of course) thinking we're gonna be betting "our monster" since we showed so much "strength" on the turn. And even if he donks river hard we know we're beat too. |
