How Applicable are the \"Older\" NLHE Books to Today\'s Cash Game?
It seems that the NLHE cash game has evolved a great deal from what it used to be even a couple of years ago. So has the contemporary literature addressing the cash game. Current offerings include:
Gordon's Little Green Book Largay's A Complete Course Flynn's Professional NLHE, Vol. 1 Sklansky & Miller's NL Theory & Practice O'Connor's How to Dominate $1 & $2 NLHE Also on my bookshelf, I have three older tomes: Daugherty & McEvoy's NL Texas HE (New Player Series) - ©2004 Cloutier & McEvoy's Championship NL & PL HE (Championship Series) - ©2004 Reuben & Ciaffone's PL & NL Poker - ©1997, 2nd edition reprinted 2005 with amendments Given the changes that the NLHE cash game has gone through recently, how much value would these three "older" books be to a fairly experienced limit cash game player looking to make the switch to no-limit cash games? |

What changes has cash nl holdem undergone?
None of those books are as good as this forum, it is widely acknowledged. |

Re: How Applicable are the \"Older\" NLHE Books to Today\'s Cash Game?
In Mason Malmuth's "Gambling Theory and Other Topics" he has a long list of various books with ratings from 1 to 10 and a little explanation of why a specific book got a specific rating. I think it will be of value.
I don't know how other 2p2ers rate his listing but it might be a good start. Also by reading a little on the forum you soon get an idea of which books are worth owning. |

[/ QUOTE ] That listing is no where near up to date because of the release date of GTAOT. Most of the books in the OP aren't even listed. To the OP, Largay's book is awesome but you need to be willing to gamble. |

I'm re-reading Caro's Book of Tells. The only thing dated about that text is the awkward MCU hand charts and the fact that he talks about "draw" poker quite a bit.
The tells are just as accurate today as when he wrote the book. It really is quite a book. |

OP, Reuben and Ciafonne's book is quite well regarded but i haven't read it.
PNL would be a good starting point for you. |
