First Post........
Firstly Hello to anyone who reads this, I`m feelin totally sick just spent four hours building my way up to a 70k stack playin a £20 MTT in the local casino, and I blew it doin everything i know I shouldn`t, It really gets to me the fact everything about my game has improved so much yet i still feel the need to call UTG with 2 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 3 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]
Flop: 4 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 7 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 10 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] needless to say i hit the flush on the turn and can`t lay it down....... Has anybody got any advice at all please!!! |

Re: First Post........
Some advice, ok, here’s what you do next time you get 23s UTG. Slam your head on the table as hard as you can. If you like the way it feels, call, if not, fold. The long term results are the same and this will help you remember by association.

Re: First Post........
my advice, right or wrong, take it for what you will. in an mtt unless you are short stacked, ignore the size of it, play to accumulate chips only. even if you are above average there is no reason to think 'well i can afford to see a flop with this hand' focus on every play being +EV

Re: First Post........
I`ve just stopped feelin sick enough to mentally function again, . Regardless of position, chip size, opponents image, Bluff to beer Ratio, whatever, i can safely say that the only time i`m ever going to play that hand again is if after banging my head on the table I`m liking the shape of the bump.
Seriously though what sort of advice was I expecting? |

Re: First Post........
Firstly dont play 23s UTG. Secondly if you are to play UTG Raise. Atleast you are representing a hand. Ignore that advice with this hand just dont play 23s UTG.
Also if you are playing the low end of the flush dont play for stacks. |

It's not likely to improve decision making [/ QUOTE ] Not smacking led him to play 32, so it can't get much worse. Seriously, there are a few points to make about this hand. [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] Suited trash is still trash. There are times when you might fold the offsuit version of the hand, but keep the suited version, but it is a very common mistake to overvalue weak suited hands. People actually lose more money with 72s than they do with 72o, since more people will incorrectly play 72s, but most people know not to play 72o. [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] Once you hit the flush, it is very difficult to get away from the hand correctly, even though it was a low flush. [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 32 may look like a connector, but it is really a 2-gapper. 54 is a connector since it makes 4 2-card straights: 5432A, 65432, 76543, and 87654. 32 only makes 2 2-card straights, 5432A and 65432. That means it is no more connected than 52. 52 actually makes more straights, since there are more 1-card straights where you just use the 5. Similarly, 43 is no more connected than 53, and A2 is no more connected than A5. [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] You should be much tighter UTG than you are in later positions. You should be folding hands as strong as A8s. It's not just that 32s was weak, but you really need a good hand to play it out of position when several players could find QQ or AK behind you. |
