HU Prop bet between Indy and PrimordialAA-Consistency Hypothesis
Well Im looking out for my buddy Primo here because he wants to gamble at the HUSNGs 220s and up rather than stacking up consistent results at the 115s, and inconsistency has always been his issue with poker.
So I made him a prop bet of $300 that over the next 1K matches (or when his sharkscope gets to 1800 total as he has played 800 already) he will not be over $13K in profit. I think consistency is a big problem for lots of poker players at his age (21-ish). Lots of kids quit school to play cards when they have very little in the way of good poker results over the LONG-TERM. I'm arguing that the most important thing is for PrimordialAA to grind out the 115s over the next 3 months while he's studying abroad in the EU rather than gambling it up at the higher limits with huge swings. I feel that he has to make a huge decision about quitting college and making this his profession next year, and consistency is sooooooo important for him ....so we have a prop bet. I hope he wins, but i dont think he can handle consistency personally. Indy |

Re: HU Prop bet between Indy and PrimordialAA-Consistency Hypothesis
sigh... EZ money for me... right???
not so, he is absolutely correct, i've made alot of mistakes in the past with bankroll management, play environment, etc., and this semester has been my chance to focus on poker and remedy some leaks and shortcomings in my personal life and environment that effect poker for me. anyways, I believe consistency is a HUGE issue for alot of players, but I believe most of this comes from the environments / conditions you play under, your ability to focus, and your bankroll management, so slowly, as we take control of each of these aspects, its obvious that consistency will follow. Anyways, GL me ;p -Primo |

[/ QUOTE ] take it from me, a guy with lots of money and the best job on the planet....9-5 jobs and college suck. if he can do this professionally, he should shoot for it. I went to college for 8 yrs (undergrad + grad) and i make a strong 6-fig salary....and i kinda regret that i didnt get into poker at a younger age and really tear it up. But i do grind 20hrs/week and i love it. So go for it Primo!!!!!!!!!! |

Re: HU Prop bet between Indy and PrimordialAA-Consistency Hypothesis
lol let's not get ahead of ourselves anyone, I have made FAR from what I need to to even think of quitting college, I am in Budapest, Hungary for the semester, I am 20 as well, and why I would want to? I've gotten bored of the CS grind, I mean I like programming, but I hate classes, hate hw, and would much rather just do something I love IF... *cough* IFFFFFFF I could make enough to support myself and eventually a family happily... but again, im a long ways from that, so for now, it's me trying to get my FTP SS graph to 13k ;p

Re: HU Prop bet between Indy and PrimordialAA-Consistency Hypothesis
hehe, okay, I guess its its much more of a personal issue than one might think. Im working on my bsc psychology (which is something Ive always wanted to do) so quitting isnt even an option for me. Only if enough money was involved I would quit for now and restart later on.
If you are actually unhappy with what youre doing now poker is obviously a very very attractive option. If there was anything that assured me that poker would be around just long enough I guess there would be more people taking it seriously. I guess Im fooling myself by being scared of the idea that tomorrow there might be a law nullifying everything I was trying to do until that point. If none of that doesnt make sense thats fine. Im drunk as hell. Sorry guys. |

[/ QUOTE ] poker will never go away permanently, there's too much $$ to be made. right now in california we are working on a petition for a state online casino which would have poker in it. its just a matter of time before its all str8 legal. the younger generation in this country isn't tight-assed about this kinda stuff like my religious fanatic parents are .....its all good. indy |
