Limping AA on the button
strategy question.
Do you think it's profitable to mix your play with AA (and possibly KK) on the button, by just limping instead of the normal raise against players you consider not good. Here's the twist : you let bad players play marginal hands on the BB and possibly the SB if he completes, that they wouldn't have played otherwise (hands like 63o Q6o, whatever) and take some money from them on a Q34 board where they hit top pair or second pair with their Q7o that they would have folded preflop otherwise. Added twist : those hands may decide to defend their blind and raise the limping button. Plus the classic limp reraise with AA against good hands that would probably have flat called the raise there, even though that's not specific to limping on the button, it can apply here. There are some downsides to this strategy, as I said, you let marginal and totally disguised hands play the hand, and it requires pretty good skills to avoid losing big hands on apparently innocent boards, where he two pairs his 74o. You play blind against the blind because of no added information. You wouldn't do that more than, let's say.. 5% of the time, to mix your play. So is it a viable strategy to sometimes let those marginal hands in the hand for free by limping AA or KK on the button ? And do you think it would be more profitable to minraise instead to get the SB not to complete so often ? |

Re: Limping AA on the button
if you wanna mix up your play on the button, rather start raising crap than limping good hands. does the same but is way more profitable.

[/ QUOTE ] Exactly, I'm not limping anything from the button, so in order for this strategy to work I'd have to start limping more hands. That, unfortunately is -EV in a big way. So limping would just narrow your hand down to KK AA if thats the only hands you limp. |
