Close to the half way stage of the morning foursomes, US are 2 up at 10 in one, 1 up at 8 and 9 in two and Europe 2 up at 7.
Looks like the US will live up to their favorite role in this one, but there are many holes left to play. As for the Natalie/Paula "rivalry" Natalie is in the foursome which is 2 down and Paula is in one of the two 1ups. |

This is taking a backseat when the Tour Championship is going on. The U.S. would probably lose in a Cup format against South Korea.

Afternoon fourballs:
Matthew/Tinning vs. Hurst/Lincicome Sörenstam/Hjorth vs. Stanford/Prammanasudh Gustavsson/Nocera vs. Castrale/Kerr Johnson/Davies vs. Creamer/Pressel Both coaches seems to try out new combinations and to get many players in action early. The Trish Jonhson/Laura Davies partership is definitly an attempt to get Davies firing, which is needed for Europe. The question is if Davies can play all matches or if she will have to be rested for atleast one match tomorrow. If she is not firing playing with Johnson, she is probably going to be rested at least one match even if she can handle playing more. Inkster is being rested due to her age, I guess, can't see her playing 5 matches. All-in-all the first session hasn't shown much, that US was pre-event favorites hasn't changed, but they are not more favorites now than they were before the mornings play. |

I watched this presumably live at my gym this morning (6AM PT) on the Golf Channel. The weather looked just horrible, nonstop rain. Worse yet, the already non-thin women were so bundled up with rain gear that some of them looked like water buffalo, particularly Pat Hurst. But there was still some decent golf and I'd tune in if I actually end up being up that early this weekend.

I'm looking forward to a Sunday singles match with Pat Hurst vs. Laura Davies.
