Re: NL10: Flopped set on monochrome board OOP
i probably would called the all in hoping that BB had 2 pair, or even top pair and just really overplayed it (this is .05 - 0.1 NL). folding isn't horrible but i do think that you missed some value by not calling.

Re: NL10: Flopped set on monochrome board OOP
I think you should call here , mainly due to two reasons:
1)His chances of flopping a flush are very small ( about 0.2 % to hit a flush on the flop if I looked it up right.). Of course I know that it happens every now and then, but other holdings are much more likely. 2)I think his flop shove to your rereraise is at this level rather a sign that he wants to protect his hand from being outdrawn. Though he could do this with a small flush, I think he is rather holding something like AT or maybe KT, maybe with a single heart. I'd call here, too... |

You played it fine except for the fold.

Re: NL10: Flopped set on monochrome board OOP
I try to get all in on this flop.
If he has the flush you have lots of outs to suck out. If he has anything else (other than over-set) then you are a HUGE favorite. |

Re: NL10: Flopped set on monochrome board OOP
At .05-.10, he's got it 50% of the time. Maniacs and donks (i.e. not the loose pre-flop, weak passive post-flop people who make up the majority of players at this level) aside, aggression (especially a 4-bet) is usually a reliable sign that they're telling you the truth here.
The rest of the time you're a huge favourite. You don't have reads or stats on the BB, which I think are very important in this case. If he's a maniac or a donk, weight it towards him not having it. Anything else, weight it towards him having it. If he does have it, you're getting ~1.4:1, which is not enough to call (you need about ~1.9:1, regardless of how high his flush is). If he doesn't have it, the majority of the time you're getting 1:2. Doing a quick and dirty EV calc, for you to get it in you need him not to have it a little less than 40% of the time for it to be a +EV call. Is he not a weak passive fish 40% of the time? Maybe, maybe not, but it's probably close either way, so it's not a mistake to call, especially given the fuzziness of the assumptions (notwithstanding I hate requiring several assumptions to be accurate in order for a play to be +EV). If you knew he was passive though, it would be a mistake to call, just like if you knew he wasn't, it would be a mistake to fold. |
