Default Elaborate Scam

I am sitting at a full table in a tourney when ADZ1224 messages me in the observer chat to trade FTP for stars. I have traded with this player before, so i figure its not a big deal. I get in contact him on aim via a mutual friend, and end up sending him 30k on ftp.

He starts acting suspicious in the aim chat, so i ask a few people if they know ADZ's screen name, and they say its not him. Finally, I sit down with ADZ on stars and get in communication with him through Roman, because ADZ is chatbanned on stars.

Turns out ADZ's email account was hacked, and they got his ftp password through the 'forgot password' thing. The scammer went straight to me because its likely I was the last guy in the account history that transferred with him.

Right now I am stuck 30, but the account has been frozen and is being investigated, so hopefully I get something back.

its true. however, if it turns out that the money he transfers you is dirty, that poker site can take it back from you to give to the person he stole it from. basically passing the burden of the crime on to you. and i dont think the site who you transferred from is gonna care about it, if its an issue of the other site. so, dont make transfers with anybody you dont know.

yeah was stupid on my part, but we had traded before, so i felt safe, and stars transfers take a lot longer than ftp transfers.

So a mutual friend was in on it too?

no, my friend is just dumb and linked me to a scammer without telling me he didn't know who it was. so i assumed he knew it was ADZ.
