1/2 NL, my first time at the table with about half the players. Other player in hand has roughly $450, I have $500. He seems decent compared to others at the table, but vastly overvalues hands.
After never getting a break against the guy, I see a free flop from BB with J9o. He is button. Flop is QT3, 2 spades. Checked to him, he bets $15, SB calls, I call. (I love having the straight draw on a flush draw board. In my simple little mind, I think this helps disguise my draw.) Turn is a blank, check to button, who bets $30. We both call. Turn is perfect, offsuit 8. Against my nature, I decide to try the river checkraise. Sure enough, he fires $50. I decide on a slight overbet, and push. As he is struggling with his decision, he thinks for MAYBE 15 seconds, and it looks like he's going to fold. So, I called "clock" on him. He takes another 10 seconds and calls, then walks slowly out the door. So, calling clock in this situation: rotten move or fair? |

Short term, it worked. Long term, it will damage your future winnings as they will view you in a negative manner. You played the hand well and called with the correct odds. He was likely to make the call. There was no need to call the clock.

Definately KITN for you for the clock call
Unless you're joking around AND know them very well, bad for the game. Go forth, doubled over, and sin no more! |

Dirty play. Calling the clock in general is dirty.

Wait, WTF... clock after fifteen seconds to someone pondering an all-in? At a home game no less? Horrible.

Smooth move. Poor etiquette for a home game.
ps. nice flop call getting a little better than 2:1 to chase a draw that can easily get counterfitted. And then again on the turn with only 6 clean outs getting about 3.5:1....well done |

By the way, this is clearly abusing the clock privledge. If this was my game I'd make a ruling against you, giving him enough time to make a decision.

Saying callin with a straight draw on a flush draw board is bad is retarded. He's trying to rep both of those if he its. So he's floating in a sense.

So, calling clock in this situation: rotten move or fair? [/ QUOTE ] I wouldn't call the clock at a home game unless it was run like a card room with rakes and dealers but even if I did I would wait for more than 15 seconds. |
