The Turtles private concert, help me settle a bet
Somehow the topic of how much a private concert put on by "The Turtles" came up the other day. I thought it would be pretty pricey, at least $50,000. My buddy thought more like $4000. We came up with a over/under of $10,000. Not being a skilled internet warrior i haven't been able to find any evidence. Anyone have any ideas?

Re: The Turtles private concert, help me settle a bet
pretty good question. entirely depends on "what are they doing now" but i'd imagine it's more than $5000 and less than $25000

i just cant imagine The Turtles playing "so happy together" in my basement for a few grand.
There seem to be two core members of The Turtles, and then a west coast band and an east coast band to make touring easier. |

The Turtles are Flo and Eddie, right? Good line, I take the under.

you need to find out who their agent is, and then ask them how much for the turtles to play a private concert. it'd be great to hear them doing "eleanor" in your living room.

Ask these people.
Are you including travel, hotel, meals, etc? It's going to be over $10,000 in any case. EDIT: In fact, though, the answer is going to be "it depends". They're not going to have a fixed rate for all types of shows. A huge corporate event is going to pay more than Grandma's birthday party. Length of show, venue, etc. I still say they're not showing up anywhere for $10K though. |

For some ball parks on prices [ QUOTE ] Robert Norman, who heads the corporate and private events division for Creative Artists Agency, said last year that his division handled 500 events. Many were $100,000 to $200,000 corporate affairs with acts such as Seal, Hall & Oates, Styx and the Go-Go's. But about a quarter of the CAA bookings were private social events, a good number of them with staggering budgets. [/ QUOTE ] So if you're looking for The Turtles I would think you'd be looking at an order of magnitude less, putting you in the $10k range. Honestly though, if there's a prop bet involved here, it shouldn't be too hard to find out the actual price. |

1) The Turtles are awesome
2) The Turtles are not Jay-Z or The Rolling Stones I think $10,000 is in the right ballpark, depending on venue and other specifics. SpaceAce |

I read their contract that people have to sign:
http://www.theturtles.com/documents/27.html I'm thinking that it might cost more than 10k |

Didnt most of these guys join with Zappa? I have to imagine they have enough money to not want to do this for 10k.
