NL200 Live: River play with flopped nut flush
Live No Limit Holdem Ring game
Blinds: $1/$2 8 players My read of Villain: LAG. Would raise any pair, any Ax from any position pre-flop. Seldom limped instead of raised when first one in. Solid play post-flop, would always continuation bet and slow down after that. Hero had a tight-aggressive/tight-passive image. Stack sizes: Hero had ~100BB, Villain had ~90BB. Pre-flop: (8 players) Hero is SB with A [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]10 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] UTG (Villain) calls, fold, call, fold, CO calls, Button calls, Hero calls, BB checks. Flop: K [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 8 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 4 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] ($12, 6 players) Hero checks. Someone please bet. Checked around. Turn: 7 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] ($12, 6 players) Hero bets $10, fold, UTG calls, fold, fold, fold. Had to bet, hope someone has a calling hand. River: 8 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] ($32, 2 players) Hero bets $15, Villain raises to $45, Hero ? Didn't like the fact that the board paired, but Villian had been raising preflop with any pairs. Call, re-raise small, re-raise all-in? Comments on all streets welcome. |

Re: NL200 Live: River play with flopped nut flush
If villain is good post-flop, I'd be worried. He knows there is a flush and a fh on board, but doesn't seem worried. He called your turn bet -- with what? He knows you are tight and that you must have hit something, but he still raises? I'm a chicken, so I'd just call.

Re: NL200 Live: River play with flopped nut flush
I would just call because he called your turn bet you figure he had to have at least 2 pair (87) and now has boated up. Live players can surprise you though with their donkishness so a push probably isn't that bad since you aren't that deep (if I interpreted correctly). Depends on your read on this guy.

Re: NL200 Live: River play with flopped nut flush
Yeah, he would probably play 87 that way, he could have filled up without a pp.
I feel I haven't been getting full value out of my flushes recently. Recently I checked a flopped nut flush OOP when the board paired on the river (I had just called turn) and the agressive villian showed down a lower flush, I could have made another 10-20BB there on river. Also checked a 8-high flush on non-paired board for big pot, should have gotten some more value on that one too, possibly another 40-50BB. Maybe a better typical line would be bet/call flushes on river with a paired board, or small flushes on non-paired board, but not raise without a great read on villian. |

Call the $30 raise on the river.
The rest looks ok to me. |

Re: NL200 Live: River play with flopped nut flush
This is just a call here. Your not going to gain much more value since your hand and his is so undefined. He could of flopped a flush himself, or he could of filled up. Great flop..possibly a great river too if he just has trips.

Re: NL200 Live: River play with flopped nut flush
Just call.
Also I like leading the flop. I mean, did you want to c/r? What's the point of c/ring? And if you wanted to check/call the flop...what are you gonna do on the turn? Most of the time it will go check/check. Just lead the flop and try to build a pot. Most of the time it won't work but it is the best way to get money in when villain does have a strong 2nd nuts kinda hand. |
