Home AC Help
My home central AC doesn't seem to be working up to its potential. The air coming out of my vents is not much cooler than room temp. Therefore it runs a lot and takes a long time to cool the house down if it gets warm.
Are there basic troubleshooting techniques I can try before I pay to have someone come out and look at it? I've hosed off the unit outside. Inside, my filter does need to be replaced as it's filthy and about 6 months old. How likely is that to be the only problem? Anything else? |

Re: Home AC Help
We need more info.
How long has this been happening? Did it get progressively warmer or suddenly warmer? Did you double check the thermostat to make sure it is set to cool and not just fan? Have you had AC serviced in last 5 years? |

Re: Home AC Help
I think this is the fourth summer I've lived in the house, and the first summer that I've noticed the issue.
I noticed it during a really hot streak about a month ago. Suddenly or progressive? Don't know. If it's not really hot out, no noticeable issues. If it's 90, the AC can't even keep the house at 74 (that's what I set it at). Thermo is def on cool. Eventually it gets it down to 74, just take forever unless it's mid 80s or lower outside. AC has not been serviced since I've lived here. |
