Buying a MacBook or MacBookPro
Where is THE place to find a deal on a MacBook or MacBookPro?
I am fine with a refurb/used that may be a couple of generations old -- I don't intend to use this for the newest/greatest software. |

Re: Buying a MacBook or MacBookPro
I bought a refurb MacBook from Apple themselves, especially since I could stack the educational discount. I guess you're looking for an older model, though.

Apple doesn't do deals, the price on-line is the price in their stores and the price in other stores. You can find student discounts or some employers have discounts of 10% but that is about it.

Yeah you're basically SOL on a deal. To get one for cheaper you have to turn to second market like craigslist or ebay.
Apple really doesn't allow retailers to discount their products, and makes sure they don't want to by not offering any real volume pricing. Ipods are the same price everywhere unless a retailer is offering a $5-10 rebate on it themselves (which I've only seen Fry's do), and their laptops are the same way. 10% off is a steal if you can find a friend who has ed. or work discount. |
