Poker sites should offer security keys
All the threads about hacked accounts scare me enough to immediately check my balance when I first log on to a site. Paypal admits the cost of fraud due to phishing scams and hacked accounts amounts to $35M annually or one-third of their total payment volume. To combat this, Paypal and Ebay have started offering security keys.
https://www.paypal.com/securitykey These devices are small enough to attach to a keychain and generate a unique six-digit code every 30 seconds. Once activated, you must enter the code in addition to your username and password in order to log into your account. Paypal says in their press release that this technology can be incorporated into other financial and ecommerce sites. I would like to see this happen at the poker sites. |

Have you tried to order one? I get this message:
[ QUOTE ] The Security Key is currently not available. Please try again later. [/ QUOTE ] |

Re: Poker sites should offer security keys
I have one. Works good. Are you in the U.S.? I'm not certain but they may only be available to U.S. residents.

Re: Poker sites should offer security keys
i think there was a previous discussion of this or something similar, try searching. Some people had some criticisms.
If it offered a strong level of security, then this should be something that the sites offered to all high-rollers. |

Re: Poker sites should offer security keys
You must understand that they do not care about your security.
Nobody will offer any keys. Online gambling operators are not much different from Tobacco companies, if their user dies off then a new one will be there to replace him/her soon. What they need to implement is a simple computer registry like all online banking institutions do. You complete 3 security questions and later prompted to answer them if logged in from a foreign (non-registered) computer. Doubt that will happen either. |

Re: Poker sites should offer security keys
Why don't you just keep your computer virus free and use hard to guess passwords and don't log on with anonymous computers or internet connections?
